SHRM Foundation Partnership

SHRM Foundation is providing their platform and be the administration of the SHRM Certification Grants and Inclusion Grant.  We will be offering grants through the SHRM Foundation until the end of 2026.  

All members who are interested in one of the grants below or these grants in the coming years, you will need to go to SHRM Foundation website to learn more information and apply.  Direct links to apply have been provided below.

SHRM Foundation has there own criteria for each grant and HRMAG has a criteria that the winner of the grants must be an Active HRMAG member.  The only exception to HRMAG's criteria is for Undergraduate Scholarships that will be offered in 2023 and 2024.

SHRM Certification Grants (Opening Soon)

HRMAG is providing one opportunity to apply for this grant. The value of one grant is up to $1,250.  You must be an active HRMAG member to receive either grant in addition to the criteria below.  

The SHRM Foundation offers professional grants to SHRM members seeking their SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification. This grant awards one SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification exam as well as SHRM's online Learning System.

Eligibility

  • Current SHRM member (professional or student membership must be active when applying and throughout the year in which you receive the award)
  • Active HRMAG member
  • Meet eligibility requirements for SHRM Certification
  • You must test in the Window #1 (Winter 2022-2023) or Window #2 (Spring 2023).

How to Apply

Complete online application including:

  • Contact information
  • Short answer questions about academic/training, volunteer and career experience and your need for the grant
  • Current resume (or academic transcript if applicable)
  • One letter of reference (letter may be addressed to the 'SHRM Foundation Grant Review Committee' and should provide insight into your character, academic or career and volunteer accomplishments, work ethic, and values. May be written by work or volunteer colleague, professor, coach, etc., but should not come from a family member)
Applications are reviewed and scored by groups of SHRM volunteers and are reviewed by staff. All decisions are final. Each grant is a one-time grant, however previous applicants and past recipients are eligible to re-apply. Receiving a grant previously is no guarantee of receiving a future grant.

SHRM 2022 Inclusion Grant (Opening Soon)

HRMAG is providing one member the opportunities to receive this grant.  The value of the grant is up to $3,095.  You must be an active HRMAG member to receive the grant.  Inclusion2024 conference will be held in Denver, CO from November 4-7, 2024.  To learn more: https://conferences.shrm.org/inclusion

Conference attendance allows people to meet one another, as well as learn and discuss issues and ideas relevant to their work.  As such, members are encouraged to apply for SHRM Inclusion Conference grants.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible for an award, applicants must be ONE of the following:
    • Employed (full or part-time)
    • Full-Time Student
  • To be eligible for an award, applicants must meet the following criteria:
    • Have a SHRM membership through October 31st of the year the award is accepted 
    • Be an Active HRMAG member
    • Not receive any organizational support or reimbursement to attend the conference
    • Not be registered for the conference 
    • Not have received a SHRM Inclusion Conference grant in the past five years

    Selection Criteria

    Applications are evaluated and scored by groups of SHRM volunteers and are reviewed by staff. The review committee will select individuals whom they believe are most likely to leverage this learning opportunity. They will seek candidates who are eager to learn and plan to apply the skills and knowledge gained to benefit their careers, their organizations, and their communities. HR professionals who are new to the field are encouraged to apply. All decisions are final.

    Undergrade Scholarship (Open Now)

    HRMAG is providing one student the opportunities to receive this scholarship.  The value of the scholarship is up to $2,500.  

    The purpose of this award is to assist in paying for the upcoming academic year. As such, in order to be eligible for this scholarship, your semester or academic term must begin after Aug. 1 of the application year. This award may not be used to cover past expenses.

    Eligibility

    • Current SHRM member (professional or student)
    • Enrolled in a degree-seeking undergraduate program or master's/doctoral program with at least one full semester remaining before graduation (see additional clarification below), OR accepted and ready to begin your studies within six months*
    • University is a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
    • Degree program is HR-related (e.g. business, psychology, HR, org development, etc.)
    • Minimum Grade Point Average: Undergraduate - Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

      Selection Criteria

      Applications are evaluated and scored by groups of SHRM volunteers and are reviewed by staff. All decisions are final. If selected to receive an Undergraduate or Graduate Academic Scholarship, recipients will be required to provide proof of enrollment and college/university payment instructions. The SHRM Foundation will issue a check not to exceed $2,500 (for undergraduate) directly to the institution for payment of tuition and fees required for enrollment or attendance at the educational institution. Fees for books, supplies, room/board and equipment are not covered by this award.
